Although I know how excited I am to be reunited with my CHC family and campus and am counting down the days until I’m back, I haven’t quite decided if I’m eager or upset to be leaving home again.
Fortunately, as my summer job only called for a couple hours of playing piano every week, I was able to spend a lot of time with my friends and family in the area. This makes it easier to look forward to getting back to Chestnut Hill.
Since I have a lot of things going on this month though, I find that making lists and getting organized will ensure a smooth transition from summer vacation back into life at school.
Here’s hoping this might also help some of you!
Things to do:
- Finish my Wachovia loan application
- Call Brittany(my roomie) to finalize details on who’s bringing what
- Sign and return letter accepting financial aid package
- Keep conditioning and exercising in case I play volleyball
- Email teachers and Residence Life about missing first day of classes due to Lourdes Pilgrimage
- Get together folders/binders/notebooks from last year to reuse if still in good condition
- Pay tuition
Things to bring:
- Sheets/pillows/mattress pad/etc.
- Towels
- Laundry basket/stash of quarters
- Plates/utensils
- Alarm clock
- Small trashcan/cleaning supplies (Disinfecting wipes are easy)
- Plastic storage bins
- Fan
- Bulletin board/posters/pictures from home
- Desk supplies (sharpies/pens/pencils/index cards/highlighters/post-its/paper clips/scissors/etc)
- Dry erase calendar
- Computer/printer (even though school has these available in the computer lab)
- Memory stick
- Extension cord/surge protector
- Portable CD player/headphones (I go old school, and refuse to buy an iPod)
- Band-Aids/Advil
- Shower caddy/shampoo/conditioner/body wash/toothbrush/etc.
- Make-up/cotton balls/q-tips
- Spanish dictionary
- Stationary/envelopes/stamps for my pen pal endeavors
- Camera/phone/respective chargers or batteries
- Clothes/shoes
- Volleyball/kickball/Frisbee/board games/Uno/playing cards
- Favorite DVDs
Hmm I hope I’m not forgetting anything too crucial. I’ll probably keep updating this as I remember more items I need, but I think this is a decent list to keep track of things.
