    thanksgiving

I choose to give thanks to God every day, Thanksgiving was one of those days I did that and more.  Thanksgiving is a day of reflection on what we are thankful for. It seems many families experience thanksgiving with different traditions. So in the spirit of being diverse and embracing different traditions my friend Emil (BFF) and I set out on a journey to 7 different houses to shake hands, hug friends, and of course EAT!

These are a couple pictures from my recent trip to Europe, I was there for two weeks and had a lot of fun. I was there on a sports tour which included Mens Basketball, Womens Basketball and Womens Volleyball. We toured the countries of Austria and Italy, playing 5 different teams. This is just a small sample of a major life experiance. Keep a lookout for the next blog which will include more pics and short discription on each.

Pictures include some basketball games, authentic morano glass hand made right in front of me, and tours of some cities which includes Venice, Italy or Venezia as the locals call it. I represented my country well and had the honor of wearing the number 10 Jersey.

There is nothing that CHC students love more than some good competition. Do you know how I know this? Well, many of the sporting events are filled with students ready to cheer on their peers in baseball, tennis, volleyball, soccer, basket ball as well as many other sports.

This year the men’s and women’s basketball team has shining on the court, both winning there last home games. Go Griffin’s!!!!!!! They make us proud and truly demonstrate what CHC is all about on the court. They show great sportsmen ship and you can tell that both teams have close bonds with their fellow team mates, which makes them victorious and score wins that make CHC proud. miscellaneous-08-3

The student body came back from Winter Break to find out that the Chestnut Hill College Men’s Basketball Team is currently holding second place in the Central Atlantic Colligate Conference. On Thursday January 22nd the Griffins played their first home game of the season. The Griffins who were 2-2 in the CACC took on the Wildcats from Wilmington University at 8 pm. Although the Griffins have suffered a couple of losses throughout the season there is still hope for the playoffs. If you are interested in being a part of the excitement join many faculty and students in Sorgenti Arena for the remaining home games. At half time there will be an opportunity for a fan to shoot a half court shot for a $100.00 gift card and another lucky fan will compete in a shoot out against the Griffin! With this being only the second season Chestnut Hill College is competing in the CACC and Division II play everyone is happy for the success of the men’s basketball team. Make sure you pick up a 6th Man t-shirt at the game!

Are you a fan of college sports? Well at Chestnut Hill College, Men’s Basketball has a giant fan section called the Big Red Candle. A group of Chestnut Hill College baseball players came together and decided to create a fan section to support the team at every home game. DJ, Mike, Jimmy, and their friend Roy have made the Big Red Candle so popular that other students from Chestnut Hill College have joined the section. Now at every basketball game this group of students covered in red clothing and paint, consume half of the bleachers in Sorgenti Arena. Due to the enthusiasm of this group of students, spirit and pride of the Griffins has reached a whole new level. If you are looking for school spirit, sports, and enthusiasm, Chestnut Hill College is a great place to spend your next four years!

If you’re like me, then Griffins’ basketball is your number one sport, almost like a second religion. It’s the raucous noise in the Arena when it’s packed and Chestnut Hill College is on a run — or even all that nail-biting, yo-yoing pressure going back and forth in the 2nd half, when each possession can decide whether or not we win or lose. I can’t get enough of it. There’s just something about the spectacle of college basketball.

Competition in the CACC (That’s the Central Atlantic Collegiate Conference for you uninitiated out there.) is tough, and the Griffs have had their share of struggles this season. That said, our guards Kevin Whaley and Brandon Williams and forward Trenton Davidheiser have all won CACC Rookie of the Week honors—and they’re all only freshman! As they say in the game, we’ve got nothing but upside.
