One of the best things about being a college student in Philadelphia is that the city has so many great attractions and sites to offer. There are lists of Philly favorites that college students adore. The top museums include: Philadelphia Museum of Art (free the first Sunday of the month), The Franklin Institute, Mutter Museum, and Academy of Natural Sciences. In addition, Philadelphia is home to many outstanding outdoor attractions. Fairmount Park is one of the world’s largest city parks. The western portion is home to the indoor/outdoor Mann Music Center and the Philadelphia Zoo. Penn’s Landing is the home to free summer concerts, winter ice skating, and year round fireworks! Longwood Gardens is a sensational 1000 acre showplace of natural beauty located in Kennett Square.  The holiday season brings special attractions and exhibits to the garden. Night life does not get much better then Philadelphia. South Street, located between Front and Seventh Streets is filled of stores and restaurants that are attractions within themselves. Avenue of the Arts is home to the opera, ballet, and world famous Philadelphia Orchestra. The first Friday in Old City is always a fun night because many of the cities galleries stay open late. Chinatown is not only a fabulous place for late night food, it serves as one of the best places to take in a rock concert. 24 hours a day and 365 days a year, Pat’s and Geno’s battles for the best cheesesteaks in Philly. So it does not matter what you are looking for or what time you are out, the city of Philadelphia is the place to be.

One of the biggest questions that visiting students always ask is where do you eat after the cafeteria closes? There are many great options for food outside of the cafeteria. If you are looking to get off campus there are many places to stop and get a quick bite or sit down for a meal in the town of Chestnut Hill. Some of these places include: McNally’s Tavern, Cafette, Solaris Grille, and Fiesta Pizza III. However, if you are not looking to go too far, Bruno’s Restaurant is just across the street. Less then a two minute walk from the college is Bruno’s Restaurant, which is open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner. Their menu includes soups, salads, sandwiches, daily specials, and customized Italian dinners. The best part about eating at Bruno’s is that it is very affordable for students. If you willing to take a little trip, the Plymouth Meeting Mall is host to many delicious dining options including: California Pizza Kitchen, Chipotle Grille, P.F. Changs, and Dave and Busters. In addition, the students at Chestnut Hill College have many take out and delivery dining options available to them. Some of the most popular are: Tonelli’s, Papa John’s, Pizza Hut, Argento’s Pizzeria, and Yummy Restaurant. Delivery food options are extremely popular amongst the students at Chestnut Hill College because some of our favorite spots are open until 1:00 a.m. when we are looking for something to snack on late at night.

Some of the tickets available include: AMC Movie Passes, Longwood Gardens, SEPTA Tokens, One Day SEPTA Independence Day Passes, Philadelphia Zoo, and the Philadelphia Museum of Art.

With the over growing size of the student body at Chestnut Hill College it is not a surprise that housing on campus is filling up. A few lucky students have had the privilege and opportunity to live at the apartment complex across the street, Lincoln Woods. Chestnut Hill College students occupy one and two bedroom apartments. One bedroom apartments are occupied by two students and two bedroom apartments are occupied by three students. Lincoln Woods is just a short walk from the college so students still feel like they are a part of the campus community. Dan Etherton, a junior, is one of the students living at Lincoln Woods. Dan says that his favorite part about living in his Lincoln Woods apartment is that he has his own washer and dryer right there, and it is free.
