Working on degrees in English and Communications, and contributing to The Grackle (Chestnut Hill College’s homegrown literary magazine), it’s no wonder that: A) Jarreau wants to get a job in a writing field when she graduates; and B) she can often be seen drinking coffee at the local coffee shop down Germantown Ave. She enjoys fueling her marathon sessions at Logue Library with chicken fingers from the dining hall and the choicest caffeinated beverages.

Janean has a lot of balls in the air. She’s involved in Orchestra, Student Government, and the Chestnut Hill Activities Team. CHAT organizes activities for the Chestnut Hill College student body. She also plays two positions on the softball team, catcher and third base. The rest of the time, she’s studying to be an Elementary Special Ed. Teacher. Janean says the one skill she wants to master is juggling. Pretty soon she’ll realize she already has.

FAVORITE RESTAURANT FOR WHEN PARENTS VISIT AND TREAT
“Solaris Grill in Chestnut Hill, just a few minutes away from campus. They have a mean House Penne with chicken, shrimp, and asiago cheese sauce that can’t be found in the college cafeteria.”

When Max pictured his college years, coaching a sport was not on his to-do list. However, as the campus’s Quidditch commissioner and coach, he now trains students to run with a broomstick and Bludger for the college’s annual tournament. During the off-season, he’s the co-coordinator for Orientation 2009, a student ambassador, a member of the Student Government Association, and an editor of the college’s academic magazine, The Luminous Review. What does he love most about Chestnut Hill College? The location. He has the green of the Quidditch field just up the street from the buzz of the city.

    FAVORITE CHESTNUT HILL COLLEGE PROFESSORS
“Professor DiCamillo and Professor Carlsson. They are both very patient and make learning exciting—they present their lessons in fun and interesting ways!”

In Shaina’s opinion, the best thing to come from Philadelphia isn’t the cheesesteaks, water ice, or the Declaration of Independence—it’s Will Smith. (If you’re nice to her, she might even sing you the Fresh Prince of Bel Air jingle.) This makes sense, when you think about the fact that she’s wanted to be an actress since she was a little girl, and still performs at Chestnut Hill College. (She was most recently seen onstage as Dorothy in The Wizard of Oz.) Besides acting, playing women’s tennis and harmonizing with the Hill Singers, Shaina is studying to be a teacher—just in case she doesn’t become the next Pennsylvania-bred Hollywood star.

FAVORITE THING TO DO IN CHESTNUT HILL
“I love going to the Chestnut Hill Coffee Shop. It’s a tiny place, with great coffee and free Wi-Fi. Big comfy leather couches add to the perfect off-campus place to study or catch up with a few friends.”

Bridget is a big fan of eating breakfast food for any meal of the day, so it’s no surprise that her favorite Chestnut Hill College tradition is the Pancake Dinner at the end of each semester. In fact, there’s not much Bridget doesn’t love about Chestnut Hill College—she was hooked the very first time she stepped foot on campus. An English major, Bridget is constantly hunting for her next favorite book at the Border’s downtown, but in a pinch she reaches for Jane Austen. If it ain’t broke…well, you get what we mean.

BEST LESSON ELIZABETH’S RECEIVED FROM CHESTNUT HILL COLLEGE
“The ability to swallow my pride and ask for help. Chestnut Hill refuses to allow students to fail. With accessible and passionate professors, I’ve learned to be humble when it comes to my education, and if I truly do not understand something, to seek out the professor after class for clarification or tutoring.”

Elizabeth likes things that are green—like Fair Trade coffee and the pathways in Fairmount Park. Besides taking advantage of CHC’s proximity to the park (she likes to bike) and the city (you can find her at Chris’ Jazz Club), Elizabeth likes to stroll among the historic campus architecture, write poetry in the Garden of Forgiveness, and participate in a heck of a lot of activities. She’s President of the Independent Film Club, Editor the Alpha Lambda Delta Newsletter and a Resident Advisor, among other things. She keeps going and going and going…

FAVORITE ASPECT OF CHESTNUT HILL COLLEGE
“The small family-like atmosphere. It’s always refreshing to know who you can go to.”

It doesn’t take long to discover that Tom hails from the City of Brotherly Love—especially when you consider that his favorite TV show is “It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia” and that he believes Phillies second baseman Chase Utley to be the “MVP of the world.” When he’s not perfecting his swing with the Chestnut Hill College Golf Team, editing the Sports section of The Griffin student newspaper, or rocking out to Vampire Weekend, Tom can be found in the TV studio at Martino Hall. (In his opinion, this is the best place on campus—which is no small feat, considering its competition.) Tom says that his hidden talent is multitasking—but when you look at all of the things he does on the Chestnut Hill campus, it starts to seem pretty apparent.

WHAT EVERY PROSPECT SHOULD KNOW ABOUT CHESTNUT HILL COLLEGE
“Chestnut Hill College will give you the tools of success, but you have to put them in motion to be successful.”

If Larz could have one superpower, it would be the gift of flight. (He used to dream of being Superman, after all.) As a member of the Chestnut Hill College basketball team, and a graduate student studying for a Master’s in Administration of Human Services, he might just be the next best thing to a superhero on campus. When he’s not prepping for the big game, studying in his off-campus apartment or reading Slam magazine, Larz buffs up on his public speaking skills in preparation for his future as a global ambassador. As they say, with great power comes great responsibility. He’s certainly on the right track.
